Currently there is a tendency of adjusting Swiss Food Law is to EU Food Law:
-- The Cassis-de-Dijon principle will unilaterally become effective in 2010. Products legally marketed in the EU may be directly imported into Switzerland
-- Switzerland and the EU are discussing a Free Trade Agreement concerning food products. Adjusting Swiss Food Laws to EU laws (acquis communautaire) is required.
-- The Food Products Statute (Lebensmittelgesetz, LMG) is currently amended, in order to harmonize it with the corresponding EU laws.
